1. Our Commitment

Dermatology Partners PLLC is committed to ensuring that our website is accessible to all individuals, including those with visual, auditory, motor, cognitive, or other disabilities. We believe that everyone deserves equal access to healthcare information, and we work to make our digital presence welcoming and usable for all patients and visitors.

We are actively working to increase the accessibility of our website in accordance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, and applicable requirements under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act.

2. Standards We Follow

Our website aims to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with disabilities. Conformance with these guidelines helps make the web more user-friendly for all people.

The WCAG guidelines are organized around four principles. Content must be:

  • Perceivable — Information and user interface components must be presentable to users in ways they can perceive (e.g., text alternatives for images, captions for video).
  • Operable — User interface components and navigation must be operable (e.g., keyboard accessible, sufficient time to read and use content).
  • Understandable — Information and the operation of the user interface must be understandable (e.g., text is readable, pages behave in predictable ways).
  • Robust — Content must be robust enough to be reliably interpreted by a wide variety of user agents, including assistive technologies.

3. Measures Taken

Dermatology Partners PLLC has taken the following steps to support accessibility on our website:

Semantic HTML Structure

Our website uses proper HTML5 semantic elements (headings, landmarks, lists, buttons, and form labels) to ensure that screen readers and other assistive technologies can correctly interpret and navigate the page structure.

Color Contrast

We have selected color combinations that meet or exceed WCAG 2.1 Level AA contrast ratio requirements (minimum 4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text). Our primary text color against our background achieves a contrast ratio of at least 5.3:1.

Keyboard Navigation

All interactive elements — including navigation menus, buttons, links, and form fields — are accessible via keyboard. Focus indicators are visible to assist users who navigate without a mouse.

Alternative Text for Images

All meaningful images on the Website include descriptive alternative text (alt attributes) so that users relying on screen readers can understand the content conveyed by images. Decorative images are marked appropriately to be ignored by assistive technologies.

Readable Typography

We use clear, legible fonts at a base size that supports readability. Text can be resized up to 200% using browser zoom without loss of content or functionality.

Responsive Design

Our website is fully responsive and functions correctly on a wide range of devices and screen sizes, including mobile phones, tablets, and desktop computers.

Form Accessibility

All form fields include visible labels and are associated with their inputs. Required fields are clearly identified. Error messages are descriptive and programmatically associated with the relevant fields.

Link Purpose

Links are written with descriptive text that identifies the purpose of each link, rather than generic phrases like "click here."

Skip Navigation

A skip navigation link allows keyboard and screen reader users to bypass repeated navigation and jump directly to the main content.

4. Known Limitations

While we strive to ensure the highest level of accessibility, we are aware that some areas of our website may not yet fully meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards. Known limitations include:

  • Third-party platforms: The athenahealth Patient Portal, online scheduling system, and bill pay platform are third-party services. We do not control the accessibility of these external platforms, though we have chosen providers that maintain their own accessibility programs. Please contact us if you encounter accessibility barriers with these services and we will assist you.
  • Legacy content: Some older PDF documents or downloadable materials may not be fully accessible. We are working to remediate these documents as they are identified.
  • Embedded media: Any embedded videos or audio content may not have complete captions or audio descriptions. We are working to address this for any future multimedia content.

We are actively working to address these limitations. If you encounter an accessibility barrier not listed here, please let us know.

5. Assistive Technology

Our website is designed to be compatible with the following assistive technologies:

  • Screen readers (including NVDA, JAWS, and VoiceOver)
  • Voice recognition software (including Dragon NaturallySpeaking)
  • Keyboard-only navigation
  • Browser zoom and text resizing tools
  • High contrast display modes

We recommend using the latest version of your browser and assistive technology for the best experience. If you experience issues with a specific assistive technology, please contact us so we can investigate.

6. Physical Office Accessibility

Dermatology Partners PLLC is committed to providing accessible care at our Rochester, MN office. Our facility features:

  • Accessible parking spaces near the entrance
  • Wheelchair-accessible entrance and exam rooms
  • Accessible restroom facilities

If you have specific accessibility needs or require accommodations for your visit — including language interpretation services, communication assistance, or other disability-related accommodations — please contact us before your appointment so we can make the appropriate arrangements at no cost to you.

We comply with applicable requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and are committed to providing equal access to all patients.

7. Feedback & Contact

We welcome your feedback on the accessibility of our website. If you experience accessibility barriers, have difficulty accessing any part of our website, or would like to request content in an alternative format, please contact us. We will make every effort to respond within 5 business days.
